          Attorney Brown grew up in Waynesville, NC.  Upon graduating high school he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his B.A. in 1969 and subsequently his J.D. in 1972.

          Following graduation, Gavin was admitted to the North Carolina Bar and returned to live in Waynesville.  He was admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in 1977.

          Over the past 35 years Gavin has practiced law in Haywood County.  He has tried numerous murder cases and various other civil and criminal matters.  Principally, Gavin practices in the area of Real Property.  Having conducted countless residential and commercial real estate transactions  during his time in practice, few have the knowledge and skill he brings to the table when a transaction involves land in Haywood County.

          In November 2007, Gavin was elected Mayor of the Town of Waynesville.  He had previously served as an Alderman.  Mr. Brown enjoys the opportunity to serve the town and give back to the place that he says “has given [him] so much.” 

          Family is important to Mr. Brown, who is married and has both children and grandchildren.  He is an avid golfer, and always open to a challenge on the course.  If you would like to know more, simply call the office and he will be happy to speak with you.
